5 ways to spend NYE when you're over NYE

"Hey, what are your plans for NYE?"

Probably one of the worst text messages possible. Not like I didn't just spend the past few weeks attending events, shopping for gifts and eating way too much food; but now I'm expected to fit into a skin tight dress and live like the rich and famous only days after. Nope, I don't think so!

I was over NYE when i was 16, now it's just excruciating. Spent pondering the lack of achievements and finding the perfect midnight kiss... No thank you.

And if you're here, I'm pretty sure you feel the same way. Just because you hate the hype around NYE doesn't mean you have to spend it alone.

Check out this list of ways to spend NYE when your over NYE:

1. Attend or host a social gathering

You may not be into clubbing, but you're a social butterfly at heart. Either host or attend a small social gathering with some of your closest friends. Enjoy a drink (or two), dance to some music and be thankful for the good company around you; bring in the New Year together... Hating New Years.

2. Spend time with the family

There's no better way to ring in the New Year than with the people that matter the most. From watching the ball drop, eating finger foods to playing endless amounts of games; reminisce in old traditions and make new ones for years to come.

3. Watch fireworks at Nathan Phillips Square

Kick off the year at Nathan Phillips Square! Appropriate for the entire family, enjoy an evening of entertainment and loads of fun. From free ice skating, live performances by Walk Off The Earth and fireworks to end off the night. It's the perfect way to bring in the New Year with the people you love most.

4. Hit up THE BED

It's the coolest club around, with a dark ambiance, plenty of seating, unlimited drinks and no line up, you'll be sure to have a stress free night. If anything, this is the place to be this NYE.

5. Go to a comedy club

Tired of NYE bringing you down? Laugh it off this year, returning for the 16th season, enjoy a night of comedy at the Second City. Featuring some of Canada's best talent, enjoy a hot new comedic sketch for a night to remember - full of laughs.

How are you celebrating tonight?
