THE BASICS

Reverting back to basics.

The past couple of weeks have been pretty rough. Whether it be family, exams, starting a career for yourself.. We all have our shit. For me it leads with anxiety, something that tries to take over my life and follows with a couple days of recovery. Sometimes it behaves itself, other times it doesn't... Keeping motivated can be quite hard.

Like I said we all have our shit... and we deal with it differently too. When you're stuck in the midst of a shitty situation, sometimes it's whatever higher power you believe in telling you to slow things down. I would like to send my gratitude out to all of those who helped me through my hard times and still do. It really comes back to the basic needs of life which are essential for your survival. Being strong doesn't mean you have to do it alone.

I wanted to start off with this because I have seen so many of my friends and acquaintances struggle over the past couple of months. As much as Double Tee's is something I have created on my own, without all the support and advice from my readers, it wouldn't be possible. Double Tee's is now the one thing that gets me through my day and keeps me looking forward to tomorrow. No matter what is going on in my life, I have my creative outlook to lean on and for that I thank all of you.

I couldn't help but feel like more of a basic bitch in this outfit.. Not that I didn't love the look but it totally gave off a classic 90's Rachel Green vibe. The overall outfit (see what I did there) cost me less then $60.00.. Not including the shoes of course. I try to save up for my staple pieces like a wicked pair of jeans or some hot heels.. As you know, I'm a shoe girl. But when it comes to the essentials if you see a shirt that costs more than this entire outfit.... PUT IT DOWN. We all know, trying to stabalize our lives for the next 50 years doesn't mean we can just throw money away like paper. As much as I would love that option... I DON'T AND WILL NOT JUSTIFY SPENDING OVER $100.00 ON A BLANK WHITE TEE. No way. In my mind, basic essentials like plain t-shirts, turtle necks, etc.... can be found for under $40.00. YUP YOU HEARD ME PRINCESS, all you have to do is check the quality of the piece you're about to buy... make sure it won't get destroyed in the wash (like half of my aritzia tops did) and you'll be good to go. I promise, no one will tell the difference.

I actually learned this from being in retail. First off I HATE retail... Wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It's stores filled with crap in 20 different colours simply to make money. FAST. Now don't get me wrong. We need places like this for our economy to survive...What I did learn is that no matter what clothing store you're in... You will see at least ONE item you would be willing to buy. Now all that matters is whether you need it, truly want it, or if it's at a good ass price. This is where I picked up my essential rule. These places simply want to make money and these places sell all the basic pieces we need. I picked up these overalls for $11.00 at Express and I LOVE THEM. Normally, I would have never walked in.. but I simply needed a job and they were hiring. Working there I saw so many little things that could add to my wardrobe, save me a shit load of cash and fuel my creativity. Now I have learned that no matter the brand, big or small... they will always carry something for your needs. All that matters is if you're willing to fall for it or not.

Trust me, I was the girl that thought brand names ruled the fashion world....they don't. If you have your creativity, you won't need the most expensive piece on the market.
