Scott Helman "Machine" - BTS

If you haven't heard of Scott Helman yet, now's the time to check him out. With his first hit single Bungalow playing back-to-back on Canadian stations, he's definitely more than just a one hit wonder.

When @thatgirlmurphy asked me to assist her on set, I was just excited to be back in styling. Three days, three different locations, farms to junk yards... I was ready to get down and dirty.

I've only really styled photoshoots and fashion shows before, this being my first experience in film, I was ready to see the difference.

And that I did....

Days are long. Like real fucking long. I don't even know why I wore makeup considering it melted of my face in 2 hours of my 15-hour day. But there's nothing like seeing the weight of everyone come together to create something beautiful.

Styling on a film set is a lot more different than you'd think. You devote a big chunk of your time to seeing how the whole production comes together rather than actually styling it. While pre-production is a bit more stressful, running around finding what fits the profile on a budget... I mean c'mon, I was never good at being told what to do anyway.

I'm not sure if I'm 100% convinced if I like film over fashion yet, but nothing beats the connections you make on set and in this industry your connections are everything. While I do enjoy having a bit more room for creativity on a fashion set, I am definitely excited to work in film again!

After listening to Scott's music and hearing some pretty interesting stories of the guy.... Turns out he isn't too bad. Falling somewhere on the scale between Ray Lamontagne and Vance Joy, he isn't far from stardom!

Be sure to keep your eye out for Scott Helman's new video "Machine". Until then, take a peak at some of the behind the scenes from our 3-day experience.
