Girls Staycation At The Fairmont Royal York
There’s nothing like a night on the town with your girlfriends.
But a night at the Fairmont with your girlfriends is a whole other story. This past weekend the squad (aka Rebeca, Carleton & I) got together to celebrate our dear friend, Elise’s birthday.
Personally, I had never stayed at the Fairmont, and being such a history buff, I was quite excited to see what was in store. (and let me tell you, I wasn’t disappointed).
As soon as we stepped in to the iconic space, we were welcomed like royalty, lead through halls of history and greeted by employees of the past, in present time. It’s crazy how such a historic building remains so significant in a modern city.
Once we were led up to our double room suite, we were greeted with bubbly, a specialized birthday cake and a note leading us to our closets.… we already knew we were in for a treat.
We opened our closet’s to personalized robes with each of our names written on the back (a service offered when given the Fairmont enough notice and a very personal touch, I must add)
After getting comfortable in our rooms and all settled in, we got ready for a fun night ahead. If you know us, you know the first thing we did was get a couple of cocktails. First on our stop was the Library Bar. Located right in the lobby of the Fairmont, it's been voted Toronto’s best Martini bar. Greeted by leopard print couches, dim lighting, eclectic feels and a selection of drinks to make anyone happy...
If you’re looking to host an intimate gathering this is definitely the space for you.
Next was dinner, just a few steps away from the Library Bar is the Royal York's famous EPIC restaurant. Celebrating Canada's upcoming 150, we got a sneak peak of chef Graeme's specialized menu for the occasion. Going through old archive recipes, years before my time, the menu consisted of loaded oysters, healthy greens, the perfect steak and a combination of sweets for desert. While the food was one to remember, it was really the warm setting & friendly service that made dinner so memorable.
The Fairmont, located in the heart of the city, there was no shortage of events going on around us. After enjoying an intimate dinner and a little pre party in the room, we were ready to head out and celebrate Elise's 26th!
There was no doubt we needed a little TLC the following morning... So breakfast in bed was a no brainer. From freshly squeezed orange juice, Eggs Benedict and Butter Milk Pancakes, it was almost impossible to not feel refreshed and ready for another day.
Back at the Library Bar, tea has been an essential aspect since the hotels opening. A tradition celebrated for over 80 years, The Royal York, offers an afternoon tea service open to the public on weekends. Steeped in welcoming services, the girls and I were greeted with strawberry mimosa's, a selection of pastries and the perfect little finger sandwiches.
Be sure to check out the rooftop with your Afternoon Tea Service. Not open to the public, it's definitely something to catch a glimps of, if you can. With a full patio for special events, a view of the CN tower, oh yeah and not to mention 300,00 bees (don't worry they're contained and produce all the hotels honey).
After hours of fun, endless girl talk and a little too much bubbly, it was safe to say we were ready to move in. Be sure to take a peak at some photos from our stay and if you have any questions about the Fairmont, comment below!
