IDS With The National Bank
Last week I had the opportunity to swing by the Interior Design Show. An annual convention showcasing Canada’s newest and most innovative designs. Each year design is becoming more and more advanced while technology is quickly taking over decor.
From self steaming closets to fridges that sit in the wall, the options are endless... And whether your into decor or not, you can’t ignore the fact that technology and our homes are working together to make our lives easier.
While technological advances captivate most, it's some of the smallest of things that can change your entire room & even your mood. What you surround yourself with can make or break your day, even the colour of your room can affect you.
Design trends will come and go but it's the people living within your home that make it beautiful; so strategically choosing your colour coordination, can promote happy and healthy living.
Did you know that theres a science behind colour?
Certain colours can cause emotional and psychical reactions, therefore changing the mood of a room.
Red is known as the most stimulating colour and can often increase blood pressure. Good for high excitement spots and intimate conversations, red is usually considered too strong for a bedroom. Where on the other hand blue is known to bring down your heart rate and induce calm, meditative states, Great for the bedroom and bathroom, you can see how different colours can set different moods in a room.
I got a first hand experience of colour therapy at the National Bank booth myself. Much like Toronto’s create your own BITE lipstick bar… you can now customize your own paint colour for whatever your personality desires. By blending colours and shades, I created my own version of the Deep Blue Sea - a movie that completely terrified me has now turned into one of my favourite personalized shades (despite my crappy painting job).
What colour would you make?
Until Next Time,
