Self Help = Self Love
So your single and ready to mingle, it’s Valentines Day but you’re more into Galentines than anything else.
I thought long and hard on how to craft this post… From Last Minute Date Tips? BORING; To the Single Girls V-Day Guide, SO over done… And lets be real, it’s not like you needed another reminder that you're single.
BUT this year, you feel different. You’ve grown since then, you’re okay with being on your own and almost prefer it. You are a confident, independent woman and whether you’ve found bae or not. The start to a healthy relationship leads with loving YOU.
I promise I’m not about to go all feminist on you. I’m not going to tell you how to love your non existent thigh gap or how your period is some magical journey. I‘m talking about a less materialistic and more selfish version of loving yourself. I’m talking about the foundation you build your life on so you can lead by example and not just your word.
I’m in no way trying to pretend I’m there yet, but when I say self love I mean doing things for yourself that no one can do for you.
I learned to love in high school but I didn’t learn to love myself until I began pursuing my dreams. I tell people to find their passion before anything else because no one can take away what’s yours. I’ve learned quickly in my short life, that the world is a scary place…. Society teaches you to rely on people but not how to cope when life takes them away. Everyone copes differently, but having something stable to put your emotions into has been the healthiest decision I’ve made for myself. Once you know how to be good on your own then can you be good for other people. You’re no help to anyone if you’re no help to yourself… So before running around trying to fix everyone else problems, take a step back and solve your own. We always have room to grow, whether it be through forgiveness, self healing, meditation and more.
Loving someone is hard work but can come easy. It’s not difficult to fall in love but can be hard to fall out of it; And when honeymoon stage is over, loving yourself is just as important in salvaging the relationship.
It’s often our own insecurities and self doubts that ruin relationships, intimate or not. we’ve all had lives before meeting one another and experiences that make us who we are. So once we’ve found peace with these experiences, it makes loving someone that much more gratifying…. because this way it’s not just for comfort, it’s because you can confidently feel and show love.
How do you guys express love? I was numb for a really long time before I knew how to love again… and funny enough it took me being on my own to find it.
SPREAD THE LOVE - NOT JUST TODAY, BUT EVERYDAY
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY
XOXO,
Double Tee’s
